This is a highly technical work, in fact rather too much so for me as I have no qualifications in economics. No one could doubt the depth of the author's inside knowledge, but it is also very narrow. This is not a book I would recommend to the general reader, but if you are interested in the political dimension of economics it probably would interest you.

This book focuses on the economic arguments about the Euro and outlines a powerful case for the UK remaining outside of the Euro. The author states his belief that the public in the UK has been misled by politicians over the years about where the EU is heading. Anyone who wants the UK to adopt the Euro should read this and answer the questions being asked, without trying to stereotype people views as either being for or against membership of the EU. As this books shows, there are shades of grey in this argument. This book encourages people to take a balanced approach to the arguments for and against EMU.
However, don't fall into the trap thinking that this book is an expose about the relationship between Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, it is not.
